GOALS
Vision without a plan….is fantasy.
A vision is an overarching dream formed by the imagination. Goals are the milestones to help us realize that we are achieving our dreams. They are part of a plan. Goals are an integral part of the method I have developed to achieve some rather major accomplishments in my life. If you look up the meaning of the word goal in the dictionary, it is, “the end toward which effort is directed.” Goals are the ways of measurement; they are milestones along the way. But they are not enough on their own. Goals need to be acted upon. And once acted upon, they need to be analyzed to see how closely we are following the plan towards the realization of our dreams. If we are “off course” then goals need to be adjusted.
Act. Analyze. Adjust. A constant interaction until the vision is realized.
Goals also need to be SMART.
S: Specific: A specific goal is an achievable goal. Vague goals are not achievable. For example, “I will make more money” is a vague goal whereas “I will make at least $5000 per month” is a specific goal.
M: Measurable: A measurable goal will allow you to know when you have or have not achieved it.
A: Accountable: You need to be fully accountable for the outcome.
R: Realistic: To be realistic, your goal must be something you can believe you can achieve. Whatever you can firmly believe, no matter how large it may seem, is a realistic goal for you.
T: Timed: Goals are dreams with a timeline. Timing of your goals creates a sense of urgency that is necessary to ignite action. It also allows you to take the necessary steps toward completion.
